A New Era of Leadership
The Pioneers
Behind every success story is unseen hard-work, sacrifice, failure and persistence. Started out as a group of 3 young entrepreneurs, the trio went through thick and thin on a series of failed businesses. They decided to put their business ideas on hold and ultimately were driven to pursue their specialisations in Sales, Beauty and Architecture.
The Reunion
Emerging stronger and more resilient from their experiences, the trio reunited to build an empire for the generations to come - a conglomerate covering various sectors and industries, with their set of skills.
Birth of A Star
Mr Tony Wong, one of the trio, has achieved numerous awards for his works and is well-known for his knowledge in development, construction and infrastructure which has led to him designing many heritage structural buildings that we see here in Ipoh today.
Inception of Star East Beauty
Datin Kelly, propelled by her passion to be independent from a young age, opted for a different path and ventured her way from a beautician to a proud owner of a 20 years business enterprise, Stareast Beauty.
Establishment of Headlines International
On 17 October 2011, the trio reunited for the establishment of a new corporate venture which led to creation of Headlines International Sdn Bhd. The company went on to develop and grow multiple businesses over the next couple of years.

Preservation of Ipoh’s Heritage Culture
Inception
The establishment of 1969 Business Suites was an idea sparked by the late Datin Kelly Yang. Born and raised in Ipoh, Datin Kelly’s dream was to build a hotel which encompassed all aspects of Ipoh from structural heritage building designs to traditional taste of Ipoh’s cuisine.
Encompassing The Best of Ipoh
Specifically, she envisioned to expand the hotel branches to cross the 200 rooms mark.
Growing The Legacy
Today, the hotel has expanded across Ipoh; located in Ipoh Botani and Ipoh De Garden. In honorary commemoration of Datin Kelly’s spirits, her predecessors continue to deliver her dream of developing the first ever futuristic 5-stars hotel here in Ipoh, Perak.
Partnership with Stareast Beauty
With a streamlined direction to bring the business and branding international, 1969 Business Suites collaborated with Stareast Beauty as partners in the year of 2016.
Awarded Book of Records
Coins were glued to the wall piece by piece to display the hotel’s name “1969 Business Suites”, which won the hotel the title “Biggest backdrop display made of one cent coins”, as reported by The Star.

CawanMU's Inception
CawanMU’s cultural concepts were inherited from the Malaysian cuisine which is notably known for its vibrant and diverse savors, varied influences and rich history. As a result, all the recipes have assumed a blend of cuisines, spices and cooking techniques.
Pursuing Excellence
Our chefs have been recognised by the industry for their talent and high standards. This is why we went on to clinch international awards such as the Gold Medalist for The New York Guild of Chef, the Gold Medalist for Peranakan Cuisine Platter, the Double Silver Medalist for Ready to Eat Meal Challenge, and the Bronze Medalist for Pastry Artistic Showpiece.

A fine dining restaurant with an attached patisseries specialising in handcrafted desserts, gourmet teas, pastries, exclusive wines and premium export beers. It has been established by the locals as a go-to place for any celebratory occasion, a place to indulge and pamper taste buds.
Rise of JapaneseMU
Striving to bring authentic Japanese infusion cuisine for a great spectrum of taste bud experiences, JapaneseMU was brought to Ipoh to pilot a contemporary Japanese cuisine that transits beyond tradition which possesses both the dining and cafe concepts.
Founded Bijutsu Omakase
Our Bijutsuka chefs showcase modern Japanese cuisine guided by an affinity with artistry and great attention to detail. Available exclusively by private booking, guests are welcomed with world-class dining experience. With a focus on deliverance of The Beauty & Art of Omakase – The Bijutsuka Experience, Bijutsu Omakase was further refined to live up to our audience's expectations on Japanese culinary.

Bracing The Pandemic
Whilst Headlines International faced huge disruption amidst COVID-19, a global ongoing pandemic crisis, which affected tourism, travel, hospitality, and entertainment sectors, it's leaders stepped forward to revitalise the company's foundation, renewing the workforce's spirit and strategy in the process.
Tactical Repositioning
Headlines International advanced with continuous cashflow injection for the development of Datin Kelly's Premium Collection Hotel despite the issues brought about by COVID. The company believes in the values it will deliver for the society, one far greater than a pandemic. Amongst all, keeping her businesses afloat.
Acquisition of Embun Ria
Headlines International Sdn Bhd acquired the 25 years old logging business - Embun Ria and developed her very own self-sustainable ecosystem of forestation. Alongside a full rebranding, Embun Ria was eventually awarded the 50-year license of renewable concession for logging and forestry practice.
